nuu Facepalm

Available in two sizes, the nuu Facepalm is a gorgeous-looking twinnie. It features key style elements like the added volume in its nose (the “beak”), the old school leash ring instead of a regular plastic leash plug, and there is a visual impact to a twin-fin when its fin boxes are pitch-black, angled towards each other on the white background. So when you’re not surfing, it still looks like a kinetic sculpture, either on your wall or on a stand.

Becoming popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s, twinnies stepped into the spotlight when Mark Richards rode a twinnie set up on his fish, winning four consecutive World Championships, catapulting himself into an Australian Hall of Famer in the process. Unlike other fin novelties, twinnies are still in use today and we think it is safe to say they are here to stay. Modern boards still use them and numerous board manufacturers have a twinnie in their line-up.

OUTLINE:

A modern /classic combination outline with mid-wide point gives the Nuu FacePalm twinnie a contemporary feel but with the speed and freedom of the classic 80’s twin fin.

ROCKER:

Classic smooth performance rocker.

CONTOURS AND RAILS:

The subtle beak in the nose allows for disguised thickness under your chest, but with a low-performance rail for sensitivity under the feet.
Mellow V throughout the board increases slightly in between the fins (Futures only).

PERFORMANCE:
Allrounder

Core: EPS 36 g
Layup Deck: 6 oz. + 4 oz. / 4 oz. Patch
Layup Bottom: 6 oz. + 4 oz. Finpatch
Stringer: 6 mm.

Ideal Conditions:
Small to Small-Medium Surf

Pros:
Offering greater maneuverability and speed than a single fin, with more stability and control in turns.

Cons:
A looser feel than other setups making it harder on bigger waves where the tail may slide.

For a less radical and more conventional shape, make sure to check out the 6’0″ nuu Knogg as well.
